Privacy Policy

Matly ("we", "us") is a training and community app for people who train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, MMA, judo and other martial arts, and for the gyms they train at. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account info: your email address and, if you use Sign in with Apple or Google, the name and email they share with us.
- Profile info you add: name, photo, belts and stripes in the disciplines you train, the dates you got them, your gyms, city and country, and the disciplines you train.
- What you post: training sessions, workouts, rank-ups, notes, photos and videos, comments, fist bumps and who you follow.
- Class check-ins: which class you checked in to, when, and how (app, the gym's QR code, the gym's front-desk iPad, or a coach).
- Messages you send to gyms and their replies.
- Travel plans you add (city and dates), and training history you describe to estimate past mat hours.
- Push notification token, if you allow notifications.
- Reports and blocks you make.
We don't collect your precise GPS location, contacts, or advertising identifiers, and we don't track you across other apps.
Information gyms add
Gyms on Matly can add their schedule, pricing, events and announcements, kids' records (first name, belt and attendance, no kid logins and no birthdates), and invite members by email. If a gym invites you by email, we store that email address to send the invite and to join you to the gym when you sign up. Coaches can see attendance, training counts at their gym and rank details for their members, to track promotions and check in on members who haven't trained in a while.
How we use it
- To run the app: show your profile and posts, build feeds, stats, leaderboards and badges, check you in to classes, deliver messages and notifications.
- To help your gym: attendance, promotion tracking, weekly reports and challenges for the gyms you belong to.
- To keep the community safe: review reports and remove content or accounts that break our Terms.
- To answer you when you contact support.
We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
Who can see what
Your profile, posts, comments, ranks and gyms are visible to other signed-in members, unless you make your account private, in which case only approved followers see your posts. Black belt rank-ups you post yourself are only visible to you and your gym's coaches until your gym confirms them. Trips you add are visible to other signed-in members. Messages are visible only to you and the admins of the gym you're talking to. People you block can't see your posts or comments.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run Matly: Supabase (database, login and file storage), Expo (app updates and push notifications), an email delivery service (to send gym invites), and an address search service (Google Places or OpenStreetMap Photon) when you search for a gym address or city. When a gym imports its timetable from a photo or text, that image or text is sent to an AI provider (Anthropic or Google) to read the class times; it doesn't include member data. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they handle that login. These providers process data only to provide their service to us.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account any time in Profile → Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, posts, comments, messages, trips, check-ins and photos. Backups are cleared on our provider's normal schedule.
Children
Matly accounts are not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. Kids' programs are run by the gym and a parent's account, without a login for the child.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data. Most of this you can do in the app; for anything else email hello@joinmatly.com.
Changes
If we make important changes we'll update this page and the date above, and tell you in the app.
